Chief Human Resources Officer, Birla Carbon

Venkatachalam H. Kadayam (Venkat) is the Chief Human Resources Officer, Birla Carbon, based at the company head office in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Venkat is responsible for steering the global Human Resources strategy and driving the implementation of Human Resources initiatives for Birla Carbon globally.

Venkat is a veteran of the Aditya Birla Group with over 32 years of experience in multiple roles within the Group. He has well-rounded experience in different areas of Human Resources. Venkat joined the Group in 1991 at Rajashree Cement Works. Over the years, he has handled roles of increasing responsibilities in Cement, Group HR, Financial Services, Metals, Commodities and Trading, Energy, E-Commerce, Textiles, Surfactants, Ports and Infrastructure.  Before taking over his current role, Venkat was CHRO for the Domestic Textiles, Acrylic Fibers, and Overseas Spinning business of the Group.

Venkat’s unique HR experience comes in the areas of acquisition, turnarounds, and divestitures. He was part of the ABG integration team for Novelis, a core member of acquisition teams to integrate Soktas, Turkey, and Spinnerei Lampertsmuhle, Germany. And among the founding members of Birla Sun Life of Canada JV  for the life insurance business, as its HR Leader.

Venkat holds a Bachelor’s degree from Mumbai University, and a Master’s in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, from Nagpur University. He holds certifications from The Indian Society for Training and Development, and the Society For Human Resources Management (Senior Certified Professional). Venkat also holds HR-related certifications from the University of Michigan, Case Western Reserve, and Northwestern.

Venkat is an active member of the National HRD Network, Indian Human Resources Connection, and the Society For Human Resources Management.
