Birla Carbon’s First Asia Post Treatment Plant Launches in Patalganga, India
Birla Carbon inaugurated its first Post Treatment plant in Asia on October 15, 2024, located in Patalganga, India. This facility marks a significant advancement in the company’s operations and capabilities within the Specialty Carbon Black industry.
What is the Asia Post Treatment plant?
The Asia Post Treatment (APT) plant is a brownfield project at Birla Carbon’s Patalganga unit. Equipped with cutting-edge treatment technology, the facility is set to revolutionize specialty black production by offering unmatched flexibility, efficiency, and precision.
The plant’s advanced machinery ensures precise control over reaction times, facilitating the production of ultra-high-performance grades tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers in industries like coatings and inks.
Carbon black grades treated at the APT plant includes:
- Raven 1035P
- Raven 1255P
- Raven 1185 Ultra
How Will the APT Plant Transform Birla Carbon’s Operations?
The commissioning of the APT plant marks a pivotal moment for Birla Carbon, set to transform the company’s operational landscape. This facility will enhance our global network by complementing our Specialty Black Post Treatment plants in North Bend (USA) and Yeosu (South Korea), while bringing us closer to our partners in Asia. With this new plant, we are better positioned to meet the rising demand for high-performance carbon black in industries such as coatings and inks, driving innovation and efficiency across the region.

About the APT Launch
The launch event on October 15, 2024, at the Patalganga plant was attended by key dignitaries from the Aditya Birla Group, senior leadership from Birla Carbon, and key customers of Birla Carbon.
To commemorate the occasion, Rajeev Sonthalia and John Loudermilk unveiled the official plaque.
This was followed by a guided tour of the APT facility led by senior engineers, showcasing the state-of-the-art technologies that will drive Birla Carbon’s continued growth in the region.
The APT plant is set to produce some of the cleanest and highest-quality specialty blacks in the industry.
