Birla Carbon Hungary donates to Regional Children’s Hospital
Giving back to the society and the communities in which we operate has been one of the key principles of Birla Carbon’s purpose. Taking this forward, Birla Carbon Hungary donated 48 chairs to the children surgery division of the Regional Children’s Hospital on November 30, 2018, at Miskolc, a city in northeast Hungary. Apart from the chairs, employees of the Hungary plant also presented toys and chocolates to the children.
Commenting on this initiative, John Davidson, President, Europe and Africa region, Birla Carbon said, “As a business, we at Birla Carbon continue to show our commitment to the communities we serve and this donation to the children’s hospital is our effort to bring a smile on their faces. We believe that this bond that we share with them is the deepest source of our strength and we will continue to share it.”
The donation was a result of the money collected from two charity sports matches held in October 2018. Birla Carbon Hungary took part in a Football Cup held on October 6 and a Streetball Cup held on October 7, along with other leading companies in the region.
Sharing his thoughts, Laszlo Dobos, General Manager, Birla Carbon Hungary, said, “Birla Carbon Hungary has always strived to enhance the lives of the people around its facility. In this endeavour, we are proud yet humbled that we could contribute to this noble cause and see the children beam with happiness.”
The official presentation ceremony was held on November 30, 2018, at the Regional Children’s Hospital, in Miskolc. This was followed by a press conference which was attended by national and regional media representatives and employees of various business organizations who took part in the matches, alongwith Dr Toth, director of the hospital; Dr Porembe Beáta, head of department of the Children Hospital Foundation.
