Mumbai, India and Atlanta, USA – April 25, 2019 – Birla Carbon today announces a regional realignment in Asia to increase focus on customers and markets along with the retirement of Mr. Shyam Rathi, President of South Asia & Middle East region.

With the retirement of Mr. Rathi, Birla Carbon will transition from the two current regions in Asia (South Asia & Middle East and Far East & South East) to the two new regions of North Asia, headquartered in Shanghai, China, and South Asia, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, leveraging the synergies that exist in each of these markets.

North Asia will be led by Mr. Todd Cottrell, Regional President, who also serves as the company’s President of Specialty Carbon Black.  It comprises of the markets of North Asia along with operations in China and Korea.  South Asia will be led by Mr. Sanjeev Sood, Regional President, who previously led the Far East & South East Region.  In addition to the markets of South Asia, the region includes operations in India and Thailand.

Birla Carbon is structured regionally to ensure closeness to the market.  In addition to North Asia and South Asia, Birla Carbon will maintain North America, South America, and Europe & Africa as its regional centers.
