Amit Kumar is the Chief Manufacturing Officer, Asia, at Birla Carbon. He is based at the Company’s corporate office in Mumbai, India. In this role, Mr. Kumar leads all facet of manufacturing Operations function across Asia covering all Birla Carbon locations in India, China, Thailand, and Korea.

Mr. Kumar joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2018 as President, Chief Supply Chain & Digital Officer for the Chemicals, Insulators & Fashion Yarn business.

Prior to this, Mr. Kumar held Sr. global leadership positions of increasing responsibility of Manufacturing, Programs transfers, Global Procurement, Supply Chain and Projects at General Electric (GE) as corporate officer and Global Vice President, Manufacturing & Supply Chain – Asia. Amit was also instrumental in creating GE’s 1st Multi-modal Multi-business green-field Brilliant Factory. Amit also worked with Honeywell India, Timken as Country Head, Global Sourcing, Operations & Supply Chain.

His three decades of experience include manufacturing, project transfer, greenfield plants, sourcing, EHS, government affairs, talent and supply chain. He has a bachelor`s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University, India, and has completed multiple Executive Development and Management courses.

His professional recognitions include; awarded the best functional global leader in Manufacturing & P&L Growth by GE Energy Global CEO (2015), and being awarded the top Performance & Cultural Transformation leader by GE Global Board and GE Chairman (2016).
