Nanocyl – A Birla Carbon Brand

Dr. Laurent Kosbach is the Chief Executive Officer of Nanocyl – A Birla Carbon Brand and leader in Carbon Nanotubes. Dr. Kosbach assumed this role post the acquisition of Nanocyl SA by Birla Carbon in October 2023. He is based at Sambreville, Belgium, the Nanocyl facility of Birla Carbon.

In this role, Dr. Kosbach is responsible for leading Nanocyl business. The company focuses on the needs of the energy systems market through CNT based solutions, creating a leadership position in lead applications such as the Lithium-Ion battery and other conductive applications. The business reaches out also to the plastics automotive and Electronics industries and preliminary rubber applications.

Dr. Kosbach has over 29 years of experience in the chemical specialty industry, with a strong focus on innovation. He has spent the last 12 years developing the Nanocyl brand as the pioneer in the manufacture of industrial Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT). Prior to this role, Dr. Kosbach led the European marketing efforts for carbon black and specialty products with Cabot Corporation.

Dr. Kosbach holds a master’s degree in industrial economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Management of Innovation from the University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines, France, in 1998.
