Sanjeev Sood is responsible for Birla Carbon’s Asia greenfield expansion projects along with the Group’s Thailand country responsibilities as the Group Country Head. He is based at Bangkok, Thailand. In this role, Mr. Sood will be responsible for Leading the construction of the two new carbon black manufacturing sites in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, India, and Rayong, Thailand.

Mr. Sood is a Director on the Boards of Birla Carbon (Thailand) Public Co. Ltd., Birla Carbon India Pvt. Ltd. & Birla Carbon Korea. He is also a Director for Aditya Birla Chemicals in Thailand and the Country Head for the Aditya Birla Group in Thailand, besides other independent Board positions in other companies. Mr. Sood is also an active member of the governing council of the ’Central Manufacturing Technology Institute’, a government of India institution.

Mr. Sood joined the carbon black business in 2006 as the Unit Head and Country Manager for China. He subsequently took over the leadership position in 2009 as the President and Director of the Board at Birla Carbon Thailand Public Co. Ltd. He was COO overseas during 2010 and 2011 and then became Regional President for the Far East and South East Asia region in 2012. In 2019, he took over the responsibility as Regional President of South Asia, until his role of Chief Manufacturing Officer, Asia, in July 2020.

Mr. Sood has over 41 years of experience in the tire and carbon black industry across companies such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Continental Tire, and in countries having operations in countries such as India, China, Egypt, Brazil, Korea, Thailand, etc.

Mr. Sood is a Mechanical Engineer by basic qualification. His academic profile includes advanced programs in International Economics and Finance from the University of Tennessee, the Manufacturing Strategy & Technology program from Penn State University, and an Advanced Leadership Program from the University of Virginia.
