Birla Carbon Italy donates books to promote education among children
A few years ago, employees of Birla Carbon Italy (BCI) shared some of their books to create a small library within the premises of the company’s office. Recently, BCI decided it would be more meaningful and valuable if these books were donated to Assopace Novara, a non-profit organization involved in projects towards enhancing inclusion, fighting discrimination and violence, and acting sincerely to promote fundamental human rights – like education.
Assopace sold the books during a solidarity market, and the proceeds were donated to an intermediate school in Novara, within the multi-cultural district. The proceeds will also be used to sponsor inter-cultural mediation programs for the young students until June 2022, facilitating their education and integration. Speaking about this initiative, Giuseppe Zanotti, General Manager, Birla Carbon Italy, shared, “What began as a simple gesture of making a small library within our office, has today become instrumental in enhancing the lives of young students. This is all thanks to our workforce at Birla Carbon Italy.”
He further adds, “Giving back to the communities in which we operate has been one of the key principles of Birla Carbon’s purpose, to ‘Share the Strength’, and we aim to continue to do so, going forward. I would like to thank all my colleagues who worked behind the scenes making this donation a success.”
