Birla Carbon Italy sponsored a high school fair for school students

Birla Carbon Italy sponsored and participated in a high school fair which was held on November 8-9, 2019, in the Province of Novara. The fair was organised by the Industrial Association of Piedmont Region, in northwest Italy and was called – ‘Wooooow 2019 – Me and my future’. It was aimed at initiating active dialogues between school students and business houses; to educate them about the corporate culture and its working and to showcase the ground realities of the industries within the territory. Additionally, a reward system was also organised that would encourage students to visit laboratories and companies to gain more knowledge.

Birla Carbon Italy’s desk was visited by students of middle and high school, their parents and teachers to gain knowledge and information about our parent company, our business, the skills required to be employed in our business and the market in general and our company’s structure, both locally and globally.

Giuseppe Zanotti, General Manager, Birla Carbon Italy said, “A sponsorship of this kind is in line with our employer branding initiatives at Birla Carbon. Such events provide us with opportunities to network and build a good reputation of our plant with the local communities in which we operate. Hence, this is our way of giving back to the society and sharing our strength by providing students the platform to see the outside world.”

Birla Carbon Italy also organized a workshop for the students, where the plant’s quality assurance operator, Alberto Cerina explained the chemical and physical properties of carbon black; the grades produced at the Italy plant and their applications. To garner further value to the tour, the students also conducted small chemical experiments in his presence and towards the end of the fair, many students from the Chemistry High School looked keen with working at Birla Carbon Italy and left their resumes with the representatives.

At the fair, the desk activity involved Birla Carbon Italy’s HR Manager, Annalisa Malcangi, along with Elisabetta Ferraro, Admin Partner.
