On April 21, 2023, the Birla Carbon North Bend team attended the 54^th Annual Membership Reception for St. Mary’s Community Action Agency, held at the Patterson Civic Center.

The St. Mary Community Action Agency, Inc., is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency founded in 1967, and it has a specific mission:

• To promote and develop economic opportunities in the community.
• To promote the education and welfare of the people.
• To mobilize human and financial resources to combat poverty and economic instability in the community and
• To avail itself and the community of benefits conferred through public law.

The corporation serves low-income children, the elderly, and families in St. Mary and Vermilion Parishes. The agency currently has 250 employees throughout the two parishes. It has provided 6,473 services throughout the following program areas: childcare, housing, economic development, youth development, transportation, family services, and hurricane relief.
