Birla Carbon Patalganga organizes various health check-up camps for local communities and government schools

In September 2023, Birla Carbon Patalganga (BCP) organized various health check-up camps under its CSR health & hygiene initiative.

General health check-up camp – This camp was organized in collaboration with the Medi cover hospital – Kharghar, in the Navi Mumbai area, and was held at the Swami Samarth Seva Kendra, in the Tupgaon village, close to the plant. The camp comprised of the medical team and their nursing staff. The group Gram panchayat Tupgaon representative Sarpanch; deputy Sarpanch and a member of the police force were among the other attendees. The hospital medical team screened 120 patients during the camp and performed various medical tests – Random Blood Sugar (RBS), BMD, ECG, and blood pressure. All of these tests were for individuals above 18 years of age. Post consultation with the doctor, the patients were provided with medicines as per the doctor’s prescription.

Dental and Eye check-up camps for school students – Birla Carbon Patalganga (BCP) also organized a multispecialty health camp for the government school students of the zilla parishad primary school which was held in collaboration with the MGM Dental Hospital & College, Kamothe, and the All for Eye Hospital, Khopoli, both located in the same area. The doctors first conducted an awareness session on the importance of dental care and eye care practices along with a live demonstration of how to brush one’s teeth daily and urged the children to replace the brushes every three months. They also conducted a short session on how to take care of our own eyes and shared tips like washing eyes with cold clean water, wearing sunglasses during summers, etc. Both the teams checked 146 students and gave individual counseling to each while discussing personal oral hygiene. Any abnormalities would then be referred to the medical college post due consent from the student’s parents and the student would be given free treatment.
