Birla Carbon Spain (BCS) continues its commitment to promoting teamwork in the workplace, in sports, and all aspects of life. Keeping this in mind, in 2022, BCS sponsored part of the kit of the women’s team of the Bezana Basketball Club, based in the municipality of Santa Cruz. In its second year now, BCS continues to support the team as their official kits bear the Birla Carbon logo, which the players have been seen sporting during the games.

On January 30, 2023, the team premiered in its first game and emerged victorious. The club has nine teams under its ambit, and this is the only female team among them all. Speaking about this continued support, Jacinto Zarca, General Manager, Birla Carbon Spain, said, “Supporting grassroots sport is for BCS, a way to promote the values and our purpose to share the strength. These fit perfectly into the context of the teamwork and the immense efforts that characterize what sports bring to the overall development of young people.” He further adds, “This is why we are proud when the young athletes are seen sporting official kits with our company logo.”

Maria Barrio, president of the club, mentioned, “In recent years, we have put in extra effort to consolidate the club’s women’s line, which, despite the pandemic, this year seems to be gaining strength in terms of the number of players. It is known that women’s teams are in the background both socially and athletically, and in our case, we try to combat this with daily work in training and matches. With competent coaches, we are able to train players and instill a spirit of sportsmanship that leaves the competition behind. We would like to thank Birla Carbon Spain for its support in this endeavor.” ​​​​​​​
The club was founded in 1997. It has teams in all schools and federated categories, along with its commitment to the quarry, a great way to promote grassroots level sports in the municipality.
